You've all hear of flea markets, probabley stayed in a flea bag or two, but have you ever seen a flea circus?

The flea circus originated in England in the 1830's and have a long history. These circuses have been found at carnivals and a side-show attraction since then. I guess you could say, training them is fast becoming a lost art.

Circuses aside, the flea is an amazing creature. They can:
- Pull 160,000 times their own weight
- Jump 150 times their own size
- Can jump 30,000 times without a break
- Fleas alternate the direction of their jumps
- Fleas are attracted to carbon dioxide

In my house the only good flea is a dead flea. Flea infestation is not a good thing. I strongly recommend getting any prevention treatment at Discount Pet Meds .

The guys with the dogs seem to always kick up more birds and rabbits so my brother and I had this strong desire to have and exceptional rabbit hunting dog. A friend of the family suggested we look into getting a Beagle.

So w bought the pure-blood beagle. Now and then he’d come directly upon a rabbit in the field before it could bolt, the rabbit would freeze. He’d sniff the rabbit and nonchalantly, move over and sniff a flower, leaves, twigs, mushrooms with the seemingly the same attention. We had began to develop the feeling that the Beagle was one stupid dog.

We decided later to breed her and keep two of the pups hoping the stupid gene would skip a generation. It didn’t. It turned out these two Beagles wanted to chase deer and return a few days later. At least we think that’s what they were after. I mean, they never came home with a deer or ever chased one in front of our path. We’d hear their howls trailing off in the distance, finally becoming inaudible. I would be geting cold, the sun would be going down.

When we went hunting any great distance away, we’d wind up leaving our jackets on the ground so the dogs would find something familiar when they retraced their path. There we’d find them a day or two later, exhausted, hungry and happy to see us.

These flea bag stupid hunting dogs qualify for the Top Dog Stupid Award! Though I suppose they’re great around children and stupid people. It's the only breed I met in my limited life experience that qualified for this award.

My favorite 4 legged friend was is a cocker spaniel, boarder collie mixed breed, but that’s another story.
